Our Approach

Every child is different and every family is different. We don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach. At Go Potty® we tailor our advice is to your child’s age and we offer two potty training methods. With a simple test in the app we help you choose what fits best. The test is based on your child’s personality and your preferences as a parent.

Two Potty Training Methods

A mother and child are sitting, both laughing and smiling while looking at each other during potty training. The child is holding a towel napkin, while the mother has her arm around the child's back. They are happy to choose the right potty training method. tips for busy parents

With the Go Potty® intensive method, you switch from nappy to pants in one go. You teach your child the basics in three to five days. That means staying at home with lots of accidents and lots of mopping up.

With the Go Potty® gradual method, you familiarise your child with the potty gradually. You introduce the potty in small steps over a period of ten weeks.

In the app we explain both methods in further detail and we list the advantages and disadvantages of each approach.

Based on Scientific Research

Google, social media and advice from girlfriends and your mother-in-law about potty training. What is true now? What will work best for your child? You can’t see the forest for the trees. And what is worse, some guidance is not only unreliable but wholly devoid of evidence-based backing. It can mislead you and potentially hinder your child’s potty training progress.

At Go Potty® we have done the home work for you. All our advice is based on the latest scientific research and reviewed by children’s psychologists, nurses and urologists. You can find a list of all our sources in the app.

Positive Parenting (No Rewards!)

The Go Potty® approach is all about positive reinforcement. We help you to positively stimulate your child and make the potty a fun and relaxed place. Sitting on the potty = playtime on the potty! We teach you how to praise your child if they use the potty and how you can best respond to accidents.

We help you to be the best potty training guide for your child. Effective potty training is all about demonstrating and explaining (yes over and over again…!) what the potty is for and what your child is supposed to do with it.

In our approach you won’t find any reward systems. Usually the praise of mummy and daddy is enough to stimulate your child. Also, reward systems can be difficult to phase out. They can lead to a situation where your child will only demonstrate the required behaviour when there is a reward.
